Welcome to the Lake County Recreation Department’s “Lap-The-Lake 50” Cycling Race/Ride!
At 10,200 feet of elevation, this event could very well be the highest 50-mile road bike race in Colorado if not the United States. Enjoy the majestic Sawatch Mountain Range scenery with the two highest peaks in Colorado as a backdrop and prove you have the stamina and endurance to compete in one of the Rocky Mountains’ ultimate road bike races. This event is becoming one of the premier road bike races in Colorado because of its scenic beauty, breathtaking course, challenging conditions, and meticulous organization. All ability levels are welcome!
The Course: This challenging race consists of one lap (22 miles) or three laps (50 miles) around the scenic Turquoise Lake paved road. The course consists of demanding ascents and challenging descents while negotiating non-stop turns. The course elevation ranges from 9,650 to 10,800 feet. Along the entire course you will experience exhilarating views of beautiful Turquoise Lake, as well as forests of blue spruce, aspen, and lodge pole pine. (The course will be well supervised with race personnel; however, it will be open to automobile traffic).
Goodies:You can expect close parking, great race music, plenty to eat and drink, a race goody bag (including Hammer Nutrition products!), awesome handcrafted awards unique to Leadville, exclusive Special Edition Melanzana CoolMax Cycling Socks, and use of the Lake County Aquatic Center.
